Geek Pants Year-in-Review + Giveaway Announcement

For months now, I have said to myself, "I'm going to post on the site today." It never happens. I couldn't tell you why without making it sound like an excuse, so I won't bother. But now, as I ashamedly sit here watching Silent Night, Deadly Night for the first time, I realize that it's been almost an entire year since I last posted, so there's no better time than now to write.

Christmas is a couple nights away and, as usual, I find myself thinking of the past year and pondering plans for the next. Sure, COVID-19 has still been around and it's been as shitty as ever, but if you look hard through that deep shit pile, there's so much good that can be found.

In 2021, I was in absolute geek heaven. There were so many fantastic comicbooks, favourites including Radiant Black, Stray Dogs, Something is Killing the Children, Big Girls, Venom, Echolands, Nocterra, and more! I watched Godzilla fight King Kong, saw Zack Snyder's long-awaited Justice League, and witnessed the return of the original team of Ghostbusters. Invincible, Loki, WandaVision, Hawkeye, and more hit gold on the small screen while in theatres, James Gunn kicked ass with The Suicide Squad, Michael Myers continued his killing spree, and film events like Dune and No Time to Die blew my freakin' mind! And then there's Spider-Man: No Way Home. Wow. I can't wait for all of you to see the upcoming Camcast dedicated to that masterpiece!

While on the topic of the Camcast, it was so great to finally get off of Zoom this year and hang with Chris in the same room again. I feel like we bounce off of each other so much better when in person -- something that's been apparent if you've been following the last few episodes. The stats this year have been fantastic, too! In 2021, the Geek Pants Media channel on YouTube has seen an increase of 129 subscribers while the videos themselves have had a total of 44,290 views and a total watch time of nearly 900 hours. We've seen an influx of viewers from all over the world, too, so thank you SO much to all of you!

Still to come this month, Chris and I have Camcasts in the works for 8-Bit Christmas, Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, and The Matrix Resurrections. After that, we're taking a little bit of a break, but we'll return sometime in late January. During that break, I intend to cut and release the final few episodes of Board Off! with Kris Fedick and catch up on posting some eBay sales. I also want to use this site as a tool to showcase more written works next year, too.

Anyway, since it's the giving season, I want to announce a holiday giveaway for our social pages! On Twitter, we'll be giving away copies of the first TPB volumes of Radiant Black and Nocterra to one lucky winner while on Instagram, we'll be giving away the first volumes of Radiant Black and Stray Dogs! These are stories that I've loved this year and that have personally helped me get through some tough days, so I'm excited to get some new eyes on them! Click the links above to follow those socials for the official giveaway announcements!

Have a very Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, Geek-Pantsers! Stay warm, stay safe, and stay geeky!
